Backcountry touring skiing in Bariloche, Patagonia Argentina
What you'll experience
in these excursions is the chance to ski in pristine areas, leaving
chairlifts far behind you. You'll descend untouched valleys and snow courts
where no one but you and your friends will lay their tracks. Ski touring involves
ascents and descents between valleys. In Northern Patagonia, you'll spend
your days touring and your nights in rustic backcountry lodges, designed
in traditional alpine style, offering excellent cuisine. It'll be just you,
your friends, the fresh, virgin snow and nature! You'll wake up to fresh air
and fresh snow, with the clear skies above you. Believe it or not, the climb
up - with the help of skins on your skis - is as much fun as the descent,
since it allows you to access unexplored areas, places you've only dream
of seeing. If there is any excursion that you would like to do but you
do not find it in this web site, please just tell us to info@andescross.com,
we will arrange it for you. We are at your service!
Freeride off - piste tailor made skiing trip in Patagonia Argentina
Backcountry skiing to
Refugio Frey in Catedral Mountain: This mountain lodge is located in the middle
of a valley surrounded by granite spires whitened by the snow and with usually
clean deep blue sky. We could say that is one of the best places to ski with
great ridges and good snow for touring ski. The best season is from September
to October.
Day one: We start our hike at the foot of cerro Catedral from Villa Catedral
on the usual trail to Refugio Frey. After 5 hours walk we get to Frey. (including
stopovers for lunch and snacks). At the lodge we have dinner (some good pasta,
fondue, etc.). There is also an option that we recommend instead of hiking
the usual trail we take the ski lift to the top of cerro Catedral and we tour
over the Van Titter valley to the joint of Van Titter and Toncek stream,
after lunch we go up to the refugio Frey ( approx.. 5 Hs)
Day two: After breakfast we get our skis ready and we start our way through
the frozen Toncek lagoon to the mountain edge where we can ski down hill on
the coluoir (only for experts). If the skier is not very experienced we can
ski downhill the Col Parotida or to the Campanile valley, or another
skiing area for intermediate skier. at midday we go back to the Refugio for
lunch, in the afternoon you can choose from several places to ski or just
stay at the refugio and rest. In the evening dinner and relax.
Day three: After breakfast we start our way back on the trail to Villa
Catedral with stopovers for lunch and snacks.(approx.. 4 Hs).
