Combination of Ski touring and ski resort off-piste in Northern Patagonia

These trip is designed for advanced skiers who have touring experience and want to have quality ski descents, not looking at how many vertical meters you ski, or how much you have to ski, just focus in good lines -
Is focus in good lines taking the ski touring as a tool to get to good places. To access to good chutes, steep lines, fresh powder bowls…


Day 1:
Welcome to Bariloche, base town of our operation.
Night in Hotel ***

Day 2:
Ski day in th ski resort of Cerro Catedral, looking for best runs and best quality of snow. According to the experience of participants we will look into different levels of steepnes, chutes, open bowls and more. Catedral offers some nice chutes in between 30 – 35º surrounded by granite spires .

Day 3:
Ski day in the ski resort of Cerro Catedral, looking for best runs and best quality of snow.
According to the experience of participants we will look into different levels of steepnes, chutes, open bowls and more. We can head for the day into the backcountry side of Cerro Catedral for the day and come back to the resort.

Day 4:
We head to mountain hut Refugio Frey, a nice granite paradise of chutes and bowls. Runs are in between 300 – 700 mts altitude drop, and the area is surrounded by 4 valleys which are amazing for every skier with certain level. Here we can find narrow chutes, 35 – 40º, open bowls, steep faces… The best is the enviroment surrounded by granite spires, good fondue. Night in the hut

Day 5:
Another day exploring chutes and valleys close to Frey hut
Night in the hut

Day 6:
Morning skiing in Frey hut area, head out back to resort.

Day 7:
Rest day Night in Hotel

Day 8:
Today we head to Cerro Bayo for a day. Take the chairlift to get above tree line, and from this small resort there is an amazing access to the backcountry. Exist the option to combine this with winter camping for 2 days in the backcountry according to weather conditions. Night in Villa La Angostura

Day 9:
Drive to San Martin de los Andes early in the morning (takes 4 hs). Ski resort of Chapelco, is bigger than Cerro Bayo but smaller than Catedral. The backcountry offer several options according to the level of the participant. Night in Hotel

Day 10:
Drive to Chapelco airport, nice combination to Buenos Aires. End of Services

Bariloche have an amazing access to backcountry and have logistic of mountain huts which help to do a nice 4 Mountain huts trips (4 or 5 days) – Demands mountaineering experience and use of crampons in some parts.
