All trips will be tailored to each client or group. 5-7 day trips will typically be spent in the Los Alerces region and Esquel region. If this is a return trip, then Rio Pico and Esquel would be a great change of scenery. The best trip is a 10 day trip that gives enough time to explore all 3 regions.The three regions are: Esquel, Los Alerces and Río Pico to Corcovada all in the whereabouts of Esquel and Cholila the best fishing areas in Patagonia Argentina. We will send clients their itinerary in advance, so any special requests allow time for changes.

When to Go

The fishing season in Patagonia is from 15th of November to 15th of April. December is similar to June (in Europe and US) season, the water levels are typically high, but clarity is not an issue since all the rivers flow out of lakes. This can be a productive month for fish, large and numerous, because the fish have not been pressured. We find this to be the time to fool the tough ones. Temperatures range from 35° to 75°. Rain gear and warm clothing are strongly recommended. January and February is summertime in Patagonia. Wet wading is possible, but waders are always a good idea. Dry fly fishing is better and the climate is comfortable to warm. Temperature will range from 45° to 85°. This is our favorite time in regards to comfort and the fact that all waters are accessible and fishable. Mach and April are Patagonia's 'fall' fishing months. Weather conditions are less predictable. But fish behaviors are easily predicted. The Brookies, Browns and Salmon begin spawning movement. This is definitely your best chance for a trophy Brookie or Brown. Come prepared for any weather. Temperatures range from 30° to 75°.

When traveling to Patagonia you need to keep in mind that fishing supplies are in short supply. So the trick is to bring as much as you can, while bringing as little as possible.

Rates

All rates are based on double occupancy. Our packages include meals, lodging, guiding, alcohol, Cuban cigars, extra flies, and daily transportation. Not included is ground transportation in Buenos Aires, and shuttles to/from Chile or San Martin. Air fares are not included, but can be booked for you if needed. If you should decide to go horseback riding for a day or to be guided for birdwatching the prices would be the same as a fishing day.

What to bring

The essentials are as follows; we recommend 2 rods and reels - one 5 or 6 weight with a floating line, and one 6 or 7 weight with a sink tip (preferably 15 ft. or greater 200 gr). Bring plenty of 3x, 4x, 5x and 6x tippet. Spare tapered leaders are always a good idea. As for flies, bring all of your favorite streamers and buggers. Dry flies should consist of hoppers, adams, caddis, black gnats, cherobyl ants, and stimulators. Nymphs need only be a good assortment of beadheads, ie. princes, pheasant tails, caddis, etc... Everyone should bring their waders, boots, a hat, sunglasses (polarized), pain gear and warm undergarments. If anything is forgotten, no need to panic, we try to keep extras of all items on hand, so we will help fill any voids.
